Finding Fall

IMG_3081.jpg

Fall was a bit elusive this year in my area.  The warm weather was playing tricks on Mother Nature.  As the days rolled on, I thought it was lovely to have a bit of an extended summer but then, after awhile, I really started to miss Fall.  New England is know for it's vibrant change of color and the crisp coolness of night and day, as October does her dance of light. Not so much this year...The leaves were dancing off the trees without dressing up in early October.  Many hit the ground wrinkled and dull.  So this year, I literally had to go looking for Fall...and like anything else we are pining for, if we look hard enough, we will find it.  So after looking around at my October photo's, I found these lovelies that, to me, represent Fall, even when the weather doesn't co-operate.

We had a wonderful time at Topsfield Fair...a traditional October event.  I enter two of my prints in the fair this year and was so excited that the Green Coat sold...pretty sweet.

What would fall be without the smell of cider donuts cooking...and then the eating...yum.

                                                                     Fall Song

Another year gone, leaving everywhere
its rich spiced residues: vines, leaves,

the uneaten fruits crumbling damply
in the shadows, unmattering back

from the particular island
of this summer, this NOW, that now is nowhere

except underfoot, moldering
in that black subterranean castle

of unobservable mysteries - roots and sealed seeds
and the wanderings of water. This

I try to remember when time's measure
painfully chafes, for instance when autumn

flares out at the last, boisterous and like us longing
to stay - how everything lives, shifting

from one bright vision to another, forever
in these momentary pastures.     Mary Oliver

Photo's were taken with both the Fuji XT-2 18-55 and The Canon 5D Mk 111  50mm 1.4  And if you love Wendall Barry and have Netflix....you might enjoy this documentary.

Until next time...wishing you peace and loving kindness....Metta.
